چکیده

We report an X-ray study of the composite supernova remnant G327.1–1.1, with particular emphasis on its thermal emission. By virtue of a combined spatial and spectral analysis, we have been able to model the X-ray emission of the remnant as a sum of two components: a non-thermal component, due to the pulsar nebula and the pulsar itself, and a thermal component, of which we have analysed spectrum and morphology, after proper subtraction of the plerion. We discuss three possible interpretations of the thermal emission of G327.1–1.1: pure Sedov expansion, expansion through a inhomogeneous medium with evaporation from ISM clouds, and radiative expansion. On the light of our new data and interpretation, we have re-derived all the physical parameters of this SNR. In the framework of Sedov or radiative expansion we derive a longer age than previously estimated (1.1× 10), thus not requiring a high velocity for the pulsar.

Discovery of X–rays from the composite supernova remnant G0.9+0.1 with the BeppoSAX satellite

Using the BeppoSAX satellite we have obtained the first secure X–ray detection of the supernova remnant G0.9+0.1. The 1–10 keV spectrum can be described with an absorbed power law with α ∼ 3 and NH ∼ 3×10 23 cm. The high column density supports a distance similar to that of the Galactic Center. The X-ray emission, with a luminosity LX ∼ 10 35d210 erg s , coincides with the central radio core, c...

X-ray emission from the galactic center region supernova remnant G0.9+0.1

We report the results of a BeppoSAX observation of the composite supernova remnant G0.9+0.1, located in the Galactic Center region. This new observation, in which the core of G0.9+0.1 is observed on–axis, confirms our previous results obtained from a pointing in which the supernova remnant was serendipitously observed at a large off–axis angle. The better quality of the new data allows us to co...

Letter to the Editor Detection of an X-ray pulsed signal from the supernova remnant N157B in the Large Magellanic Cloud

The supernova remnant N157B was in the field of view during an observation of the LMC with the BeppoSAX satellite. A signal with a 16 ms periodicity was detected in the MECS data. The pulse profile is characterized by a single narrow peak with a flux of (5.1 ± 1.1) × 10−13 erg cm−2 s−1. In this paper the dynamical state of the plerion–shell system is discussed, and inferences are drawn on the o...
